Continue working on academic skills…but this week i would like to refocus on some self help skills. Try making the kids dress themselves including shoes and jackets. Keep in mind boys need their shirts tucked into their pants and that they should be doing this independently at this point. The more they are doing independently the more prepared they will be for first grade. Hand washing, sitting quietly, and listening to read aloud stories are important skills!!!
Thanks for all your hard work! I’m so proud of your kids.

This week…

Our math unit is all about shapes. Talk about shapes at home with your kids and find them in the environment.  Talk about the sun being a circle or sphere, and that the refridgerator is a huge rectangle.  Make shapes a part of your daily conversations.

We still need to know our letters and letter sounds…so keep at it!

We all need to practice tucking in our shirts too.  It is a school rule for boys to keep their shirt tales tucked in, so please practice that with your child.

Thanks so much for all you do to support our class and school!

Math night is Nov. 10, 2009!

Fire Safety

This is fire safety week and we are learning all about it.  We took a trip to the fire station had a great time.  We saw the fire fighters, the trucks, and the place where they sleep.  We enjoyed it, even if the weather was a bit gloomy.  Ask your kids about 911, and how to stop drop and roll!
